Ryan’s Rankings

Difficult as this is, I will attempt to give overall rankings on all of the restaurants visited on this blog. The overall ranking is based on likelihood that I will return to each restaurant, primarily for a meal. I am excluding the restaurants we’ve reviewed that are not in the Twin Cities, including Lutsen Resort, Gunflint Tavern, Smalley’s Caribbean, etc.

  1. Jasmine 26 – Vietnamese – Awesome food, drinks, late night happy hour, staff, atmosphere… My favorite place in the Twin Cities!
  2. Pancho Villa – Mexican – Huge portions, delicious, speedy service, amazing birthday specials.
  3. Town Hall – American/Brewery – Best burgers in town, awesome in-house brews.
  4. Northeast Social Club – American – Braised pork shank was the single best meal I’ve ever ordered in a restaurant… ever!
  5. Gasthof zur Gemutlicheit – German – Enormous portions, fun unique atmosphere, beer in boots.
  6. Sea Salt Eatery – Seafood – Seasonal restaurant in a park features very tasty and unusual seafood.
  7. Fuji-Ya – Sushi – My favorite sushi place in town. Go during late night happy hour for best food/drink specials.
  8. Black Forest Inn – German – Spendy, smaller portions than Gasthof, but has the metro’s best summer patio seating.
  9. Brasa – Rotisserie – Succulent meat selections!
  10. Blue Door Pub – Burgers – Great selection of unique burgers. Try the Thai curry one!
  11. Salsa a la Salsa – Mexican – Mexican food with a very unusual twist… gotta check out their menu.
  12. Kieran’s Irish Pub – Irish/Bar – Great atmosphere, service, food, and drinks… portions sorta small.
  13. Red Lobster – Seafood – I know it’s a chain, but you cannot beat Shrimp Fest. Best seasonal promo around!
  14. Bulldog – Bar – Specializing in delicious bar food and Belgian beers.
  15. Saji Ya – Sushi – Another great sushi place. Decent portion sizes, fun bar area, a little spendy.
  16. Burger Jones – Burgers – Fun burger joint with amazing adult milkshake list.
  17. Cafe Levain – French – Probably would be higher on list had I ordered something more French.
  18. Pizza Nea – Pizza – Hearty, quickly-prepared pizzas for a decent price.
  19. Green Mill – Bar/American – Another chain, but no better place to watch sports and drink beer.
  20. Lyndale Tap House – Bar/Meat – Specialty pit meats are tasty, happy hour beer/app specials are great.
  21. Hot Plate Diner – Brunch/American – Very basic menu, no frills. Cool venue.
  22. Common Roots – Local/Natural – Great for coffee, bagels. Decent dinner, beer menu.
  23. Sushi Tango – Sushi – Decent sushi, lacks pleasant atmosphere, maybe a bit overpriced.
  24. Amore Victoria – Italian – I need to try a full meal there to fairly judge; only did happy hour apps.
  25. Liffey’s Pub – Irish/Bar – Great staff, good place to go before or after Wild game.
  26. Birchwood – Local/Natural – Good breakfasts, high prices. Natural/local not my favorite kinda places.
  27. Riverview Wine Bar – Wine/Natural – Fun wine list, brief dinner menu. Definitely a girly venue!
  28. Good Earth – Local/Natural – Notice a theme here? Great staff, excruciating wait, tiny portions.
  29. Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill – Bar/Southern – Weak all-around, not a place to go for eating.
  30. Moto-I – Japanese/Sake – Will never go back. Outrageously expensive, long wait time, mediocre food.
  31. Joe’s Garage – American – Very poor service. We’ll try again this spring with our gift card and revise.
